My office has been notified of a potential new business for the retail space at 5122 North Lincoln Avenue.
Pursuant to Chicago Zoning Ordinance Section 17-13-0107, Tattoo Avenue filed an application with the City of Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals requesting a variation in the nature of a special use for the property and notified those surrounding property owners with the attached letter. A total of 180 letters were sent out to the surrounding neighbors.
According to the owners of the business, Tattoo Avenue will function as a tattoo parlor and an art gallery displaying tattoo artists work along with work from anyone in the community who wants to contribute. The business will be open Tuesday – Saturday, 12:00 pm-9:00 pm and by appointment on Sunday and Monday.
If you live nearby and have any comments or concerns about this proposed business, please feel free to reach out to my office at 773-769-1140 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. In turn, my office will notify the Zoning Board of Appeals of the community’s approval or disapproval. The Zoning Board will ultimately make the determination.
Amanda King with Tattoo Avenue is also happy to speak more about her and husband’s plans for the business. If you have any specific questions, please reach out to our office and we will put you in touch with Ms. King. Please see below for a message Ms. King forwarded to my office addressing the community.
Lincoln Square neighbors,
As many of you know, we are planning on opening a tattoo parlor at 5122 N. Lincoln Avenue. I wanted to reach out and introduce myself a little more and tell you our plan for our business. My husband has been tattooing professionally for 10 years, and I have been in the cosmetology industry for 11 years. We have a three-month-old daughter who we absolutely adore and are so happy she has come into our life.
We want to open this business to provide a better life for our family but to also contribute to the city that we have grown to love for so many years. It is important to us that our business is a safe place for our neighbors to come to and that everyone feels welcome in our home. We are very quiet people and will treat the neighborhood with nothing but respect. Our team at Tattoo Avenue does not tolerate any negativity that may be present in our business such as tattooing gang members or racial slurs/symbols.
We are excited to hopefully be a part of the Lincoln Square community and are eager to be small business owners in such a great city. I welcome any questions anyone may have so please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to meeting everyone and contributing to the neighborhood.
