Donations accepted Memorial Day – July 4
My office will be working with Operation Help a Hero to collect household items to support our vets as they move into a permanent home. Currently, there are several hundred homeless veterans in Chicago. When a veteran leaves a shelter or transitional housing and moves to a permanent residence, they often do not have the basic items needed to set up a home. These are things that most of us take for granted, but the men and women who bravely fought to defend our freedom often go without. Below is a list of acceptable items.
Kitchen & Cleaning
Kitchen Trash Can (Plastic)
Bathroom & Miscellaneous
Toilet Paper (4 or 6 packs)
Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Bath Towels (2)
Smoke Detector w/Batteries
Please note: Only new, store-bought items will be accepted.
All materials will be collected by Military Outreach USA and the American Red Cross to be delivered to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
Donations can be brought to my service office during the hours listed below.
