As you may know, 1940 West Foster Avenue is no longer the intended home of the Griffin Theatre Company. Since 2011, Griffin Theatre has worked to make the former police station their permanent home, but unfortunately was not able to make it work.
While this is certainly a disappointment for the community and for Griffin Theatre, I am happy to report that another theatre is interested in the space. The new theatre expressing interest is a well known and
The theatre is a non-for-profit organization that often collaborates with other non-for-profit organizations in the Chicago area such as Chicago Public Schools, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Illinois Farm Bureau, Misericordia, PAWS Chicago, and the USO. I believe that the 40th Ward would welcome such a community participant.
Once a decision is made, we will notify the community and begin to coordinate with the theatre group for regular community updates as the renovations commence.
