Last night around suppertime, August 1, there were calls put into 911 of shots being fired on Bryn Mawr Avenue around or between Virginia and Richmond. There were also reports of shots fired in the east-west alley north of Bryn Mawr between Virginia and Sacramento. These reports are, in fact, true.
Multiple police units responded to the locations where several bullet casings were recovered. It was reported that the shots were being exchanged by individuals who were driving in the area as two individuals in a pickup truck and two individuals in what appeared to be a dark colored Chevy sedan. It is not known at the present time if these individuals live in the area or whether this was an incident that just happened to occur in our area.
The police have done a canvas and are looking for individuals who have cameras or videos on their homes which may include that portion of Bryn Mawr or Sacramento from Bryn Mawr north and Virginia from Bryn Mawr north. If you have videos or if, in fact, you saw anything that you think might be helpful to the police, please call either my office (773.769.1140) or contact the Police Department (20th District CAPS Office, 312.742.8770) so that the detectives investigating this incident can be made aware.
