This year’s Christmas Tree Recycling Program runs January 5 – 19 at parks across the City. Once collected, the trees will be shredded into mulch that’s used in local parks to protect and nourish plants and soil. Some of the mulch from this program is also made available to Chicago residents free of charge, on a first come – first served basis.
The locations nearest to the 40th Ward are:
North Park Village
5801 N. Pulaski Rd.
6601 N. Western Ave.
4921 N. Marine Dr.
Because the trees are mulched, all tinsel, ornaments, lights, and stands must be removed. Remove plastic bags used for transport before putting trees in the stalls.|
Let’s help ensure more trees are kept out of the landfill this year by encouraging friends and neighbors to recycle their Christmas trees for the environmental benefits, and also so there’s more free mulch to go around.
