On Tuesday, July 31, Ald. Pat O’Connor met with a group of 35 high school students, comprised from schools throughout all of Chicago, called Future Leaders of Chicago. The students selected for the Future Leaders of Chicago program have demonstrated leadership in their school, family, or community. The program was founded by a group of educators, principals, professionals, and civic leaders in partnership with the University of Chicago and the Chicago Community Trust.
The students met with Ald. O’Connor in the City Council Chambers with a lively discussion around education, crime and violence, public health, race relations, and social justice. Ald. O’Connor enjoyed his conversation with the group and has no doubt that some of these students will be Chicago’s next generation of leaders.
