Mayor Rahm Emanuel will host three town hall meetings to discuss the City’s current budget outlook and solicit savings, reform and revenue ideas from residents to assist in the preparation of the 2016 budget. The Mayor will be joined by his finance team and all members of his cabinet for the three town hall meetings, which will be held at the following locations:
Monday, August 31: Malcolm X College, 1900 West Van Buren Street
Wednesday, September 2: South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 South Shore Drive
Thursday, September 3: Wright College, 4300 North Narragansett Avenue
Each meeting will start at 6:30 pm with doors opening at 5:30 pm. Residents will have the opportunity provide their ideas to Mayor Emanuel, the City’s finance team and city leaders. Residents can also provide their ideas via social media during the town hall meetings with the hashtag #ChiBudget2016. City departments and agencies will be in attendance to answer questions related to specific city services.
The ideas and proposals provided by residents, community and labor leaders, and elected officials throughout this process will help to inform Mayor Emanuel’s 2016 budget presentation.
Mayor Emanuel will present the 2016 budget to the City Council on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
