Thank you to everyone for the tremendous outpouring of concern my office received yesterday in response to my note regarding the victims of the fire at Paulina and Winona Avenues.
It has been brought to my attention that Woolly Mammoth Antiques & Oddities, 1513 W. Foster Avenue, has been kind enough to start a go fund me page so that residents can donate to the victims of the fire.
This means that residents have the opportunity to donate in two ways:
Gift Cards to Any Major Department or Grocery Store
Drop off or mail to: 40th Ward Service Office
Address: 5850 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, Il 60659
Times: Monday & Thursday 9 am – 7 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9 am – 4:30 pm
Also, because the fire victims are now in need of rental housing, we are asking landlords in the area to let us know via email if they have units available. My office will then pass the information along to those interested. The office email address is email@example.com.
Thank you again to everyone for working together. This is a true measure of what community means in the 40th Ward.

As you may be aware, on Saturday, July 8, fire devastated a 6-flat and single family residence at the corner of Paulina and Winona Avenues in the 40th Ward. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but between fire, smoke and water damage, everything the residents owned was lost. Many of the residents are living in hotels temporarily until they find housing.
I am asking neighbors to please consider making a donation in the form of a gift card to help these victims rebuild their lives. Any donation, big or small, will go a long way in helping them purchase the items they need. A gift card to any major store would be greatly appreciated. My office will be collecting gift cards through the end of July and will be distributing them to the victims.
Donations can be dropped off at my service office, located at 5850 N. Lincoln Avenue, Monday & Thursday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Feel free to contact my office at 773-769-1140 for more information.
