Thanks to all who came out to our community CAPS meeting Thursday night. Community involvement is key to the success of keeping our ward safe and neighbors informed.
20th District Commander Sean Loughran and I will be hosting a community CAPS meeting to discuss recent crime trends in the area.
When: Thursday, October 26
Time: 7:00 pm
Where: Amundsen High School, Door 1
Address: 5110 N. Damen Ave
I have been working with the Commanders of the 19th, 24th and 20th Districts for an increased police presence in our Ward. It is my view that the best way for residents to address crime issues is to attend the beat meeting for the part of the neighborhood in which one lives.
At beat meetings, you have an opportunity to meet with the officers who patrol our streets, a representative of command staff, myself or one of my representatives. At the meetings, the officers bring residents up to date on current trends and arrests and give details and facts of recent incidents (as opposed to folklore). It is also an opportunity for you as a resident to inform patrol officers of what you have been seeing. It is a great way to increase the effectiveness of your block’s neighborhood watch program or to start one if one does not already exist.
