As the need for awareness and action against sexual harassment continues to plague our national workforce, the City of Chicago continues to be a committed employer by supporting and implementing City policies that prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace. Like many of my colleagues, I see the need to combat this behavior, which is why I decided to co-sponsor the below ordinances so we can clearly define what constitutes sexual harassment and implement meaningful policies to safeguard against such harassment.
Each of the three ordinances listed below has passed City Council. If you wish to access the specific language for each, please click on the link(s) below.
Ordinance SO2017-7797 Amendment of Municipal Code Section 2-156-145 requiring all city employees, members of boards or commissions and not-for-profit organization created by city to complete sexual harassment training course.
Ordinance O2017-8684 Amendment of Municipal Code Sections 2-156-010 and 2-156-149 concerning definition of sexual harassment as related to interaction with government entities.
Ordinance SO2018-893 Amendment of Municipal Code Chapter 2-92 by adding new Section 2-92-612 entitled “Sexual Harassment Policy”.
