On Thursday, February 9, I attended the Chicago Police Department Compstat meeting at police headquarters. These meetings are held for the purpose of bringing together city officials and police administration to provide important information regarding crime trends in the city.
At this meeting, I had the opportunity to hear crime reports for our ward. Commanders from the 20th, 24th, 19th and 17th Districts stated that up to today, statistically, we are doing quite well, but they all stressed that we could do better. Simple things like locking our car doors, keeping house doors and windows locked, even if you’re just walking your dog or stopping by a neighbor’s house, will all contribute to our safety. They also had very positive things to say about the community’s involvement and their commitment to ensuring a safe neighborhood.
