Chicago Sprinkling Ordinance in Effect
Sprinkling is permitted from 5 A.M. until 8 A.M., and 7 P.M. until 10 P.M., Mondays through Fridays.
The City of Chicago Sprinkling Ordinance is in effect due to drought conditions the city is experiencing. During this very dry season, the city asks that you only water your lawn during the hours of 5am until 8am, and 7pm until 10pm, Mondays through Fridays.
There are no restrictions on weekends and holidays, however water should always be used sensibly to avoid waste. Watering in the early morning or evening benefits your lawn mostly because less water is lost to evaporation at these times. Taller grass withstands heat better and requires less watering.
